Exhibition

At the opening of the First Book Night in Düsseldorf on June 30, 2022

The exhibition presents 21 artists who work in the fascinating spectrum between books and art and invite us to exciting discoveries with their works. In doing so, we always touch on our cultural traditions, in which the visualization and writing of our experience with the world plays a major role:

Ruth Kühn-Löwe dedicates her artist book to a woman named Pia, whom we encounter in multi-layered collages of painted, drawn, cut and torn things, in various poses from changing perspectives. The game of cover up and discovery awakens our curiosity for the convergent and divergent complexity of a personality that can never be fully defined.

Artwork

The artist book Pia is a multi-layered collage of painted figurative elements and spatial structures, as well as printed, cut and torn structures. The alternation of transparency and non-transparency arouses interest in what is visible and what is not. What is not directly visible, but can be guessed at, should stimulate the imagination.
